Tasting Notes:The wine has medium golden color and exhibits notes of apples, citrus and hints of honey. On the palate, it is dry, (very) yeasty and mineral with flavors of stone fruits and white pepper. With its high acidity, the wine is vibrant with a medium fresh finish.
Story: Johannes and Melanie Trapl own 18 hectares of vineyards in Stixneusiedl and Spitzberg. The combination of warm Pannonian microclimate and the breeze coming from Donau creates great growing conditions for the grapes. The winery is actually known for producing high-quality Blaufränkish but they also produce 20% of white wine. They are going through a process to become a biodynamic winery in the following years.

Grape: 100% Chardonnay
Alcohol:14 % vol
Aging: 14 months in French oak barrels for 75% of the production. [25% new oak] The rest is aged in concerete eggs.
Region: Maremma, Tuscany, Italy
Tasting Notes: Pale lemon color with green hues leads to aromas of apricot, sweet pear and hints of vanilla. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium body and exhibits flavors of citrus, pear, almond and roasted nuts leading to a complex and mineral finish.
Story: Georg Weber, originally from Germany, was studying at Business and Management School of Lausanne when he decided to pursue a career in wine. After significant research, he bought 50 hectares of land in South of Maremma in Tuscany. Today he runs a modern winery with his wife Julia Weber. They mostly produce international grape varieties, such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah, Grenache, Chardonnay. Michel Rolland assists in winemaking and more interestingly they benefit from the expertise of Lydia and Claude Bourguignon in soil analysis.

Schieferterrassen 2014, Weingut Heymann – Löwenstein
Grape: 100% Riesling
Alcohol:12,5 % vol
Region: Mosel, Germany
Tasting Notes: The wine has bright golden color and intense aromas of pear, apricot and hints of honeysuckle and petroleum. It is dry, vibrant with a mineral character. Intense fruit flavors are perfectly balanced with its high acidity, leading to a long lingering finish.
Story: “One should be able to pick up the stone / and hold it in wild hope, / until it begins to bloom / like music takes a word / and illuminates it with the richness of sound” starts the website of Heymann – Löwenstein, with the poem of Ingeborg Bachmann, one of my favorite writers and poets. Created in 1980 by Rheinhard Löwenstein, the wine estate is located in Lower Mosel on steep slate stones. He is an inspirational winemaker, known with his low yield dry Riesling’s with many awards. He aims to bring out the best of terroir and shares the secret of terraced vineyards in Mosel.
